POST 8: ENGLISH LANGUAGE CHALLENGES

 My first experience learning English at university, it is not far from my years at school, the methodologies are similar in the tasks assigned to us, since in those years they did writing work for me.

In my opinion, I need to improve my pronunciation and fluency in English, as there have been no occasions in which I have seen the need to use it, taking the opportunity to practice and evaluate my progress. However, to improve this, I consider a solution to start conversations with my sister, in addition to listening to audio books and repeating the content until exhaustion.

During this semester, having to write blogs was interesting to me, since we have to express our opinions, experiences and ideas on a topic, which is quite personal and now that we have been in online mode, the use of blogs is the way to get to know our classmates when at least they write about themselves. The way each one writes is different.

Currently I practice English by watching series or series in English with or without subtitles, I listen to songs, I read books that I download online and I changed the language of Instagram to become more familiar, but apart from these instances, I do not speak English, since, I do not I see it necessary, as we live in a Spanish-speaking country, I don't need it to communicate. Ironically, my mother studied to be an English teacher and as a family we have traveled to the United States a few times, but that was a long time ago and now the times I use English is to help my younger cousins ​​with their homework.

Why did I choose my major?

HI, Welcome to my second blog. To be honest, my path towards deciding to study architecture was not easy. My first dream as a child was to be a dentist but that dream gradually faded to a point where I didn´t know what I would do in the future or what I wanted, so I just let the days go by.  One day while I was waiting for my sister to be ready, I  saw an architecture magazine in the hairdresser,  i t was just right in front of me so I took it, looked at it and made up my mind,  from that moment I wanted to study that carrer but out of all expectation and maybe out of fear and insecurity, I entered the university to study computer science, I must have been crazy or just lost because I remember that I did not want to disappoint anyone, so I kept going for a year before I gave up, I wanted to study architecture so much that one day I threw it all away and said I would try and that whatever had to happen would happen.  I don´t regret what I did, many people have to...

A Photo and a story

 Hello, today´s blog topic is about a meingful photo and the story behind it!! This is my favorite photo. This is one of the many ways I remember my grandfather, he was not a man who let others see his feelings, many described him as serious or cold but for me he was the only father figure that me and my sister had. He did not smile or laugh much but his actions and the occasional hug said more than a thousand words : he loved us.  He worked hard and his greatest treasure was his family, he did not refuse to give help to those who needed it, photos like these bring to mind everything he did in his life. A disease took him a few years ago but we remember him fondly, I still hear stories of his travels around the world to countries like Australia, Jerusalem, USA and many others.
